Probably the number one reason why people don’t achieve the success they want is due to a lack of self-belief. Whatever your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. But first you need to believe that what you desire is possible. Belief is a choice. You can choose to think you can or you can choose to think you can’t. It is as simple as that. If you practice thinking positively over and over again them your positive thoughts will become automatic and eventually a reality.

How your mind affects what you expect from life

It was once thought that we respond to every piece of information flowing into our brains. But now, thanks to modern technology, we know that our brains are very selective, and make decisions unconsciously based on what it has learned from previous experience. Your brain actually anticipates what it expects to happen. When your unconscious mind receives a piece of information, it searches your memory archives for the closest match, and provides you with a pre-programmed response. This means your past experiences affect how you respond to the new experiences here in the present.

You spend your whole life becoming conditioned. Through a lifetime of events your mind learns what to expect. Whether it actually happens that way or not. And because your brain anticipates something will happen in a certain way, you often actually achieve what you anticipate.

The Power of Expectation

It is so important to have positive expectations. When you replace your old negative expectations with positive ones, when you believe what you want is possible, your mind will actually make that expectation a possibility for you. Your mind will actually expect you to achieve what you desire.

You can be anything you want to be if only you believe with sufficient conviction and act accordingly. That is what the most successful people believe. Whatever your mind can conceive and believe your mind can achieve. Believe in yourself and just go for it. Sooner or later you will achieve what you want because you think you can achieve it.

You must create a safe space within your mind where nothing is impossible. You should always question your assumptions about how things are done and be open to new possibilities. Remember it is not what you don’t know that holds you back, but it is what you do know, that isn’t true, that holds you back.

Behave as if you have already achieved your goals

One of the most effective ways to achieve your goals is to act as if you have already achieved your goals. You need to think like, talk like, dress like, act like and feel like you have already achieved your goals.

Behaving as if you have already achieved your goals sends powerful messages to your unconscious mind to find creative ways to help you achieve your goals. Your reticular activating system (RAS), which is part of your unconscious mind, starts alerting you to anything that might help you achieve your goals.

You can start right now acting as if you have already achieved your goals by:

  • radiating self-confidence
  • asking for what you want
  • saying what you don’t want
  • thinking that anything is possible
  • taking risks
  • celebrating your successes.

Behaving in this way, as if you have already achieved your goals, will create an internal unconscious experience that will propel you to create the happiness you desire.
