Do you believe your life has a purpose? Everyone should have a purpose in life that they pursue with passion and enthusiasm.
Without a purpose in life, it is easy to feel you just exist. Feeling like you just exist can lead to several physical and mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, obesity, smoking and insomnia.
If you are not following your passion, each day can feel like ‘groundhog day’.
Life without a purpose can feel like you’re flying without a destination.
If you don’t know your destination then who knows where you will end up.
It is important to remember that there are many ways of getting to a destination.
Sometimes you might get blown off course when life deals you a tough hand, but as long as you stay true to your purpose in life you will reach your destination in the end.
So if you find yourself drifting without a purpose in life, ask yourself this fundamental question:
What was I put on this earth to do?
Be honest with yourself.
Don’t deny the truth.
If the answer you get seems unachievable, then you need to believe the impossible is possible and make your dream come true.
To be happy in life you need to identify your life’s purpose and chase it with passion, determination and commitment.
If your life has a purpose then you’re doing what you love, what you’re good at, and achieving what is important to you.

When you have a purpose in life, people and opportunities are attracted to you.
When your life has a purpose all your activities around centred around it.
Everything you do is an expression of your life’s purpose.
The hard truth is: if an activity doesn’t serve your life’s purpose then you shouldn’t do it. You need to cut out any activity that doesn’t serve your life’s purpose.
How do you work out your purpose in life?
To help you work out your purpose in life, answer these four powerful questions:
1. Name five times when you have experienced the most joy and happiness.
When you have identified five occasions, ask yourself:
2. What did those five experiences have in common?
When you have identified the common thread, ask yourself:
3. What skills and personal qualities where you using at those times?
Now take some time to answer this question:
4. How can I use my skills and personal qualities to make doing what I enjoy.
Once you have completed this exercise, you should be able to work out your life’s purpose and how you can make money doing it and be happy in the process.
Contemplate your purpose in life
Once you have identified your life’s purpose regularly practice imagining living that life. Imagine living that life first thing in the morning and last thing at night, every day for three weeks.
Every time you imagine living your life’s purpose, sit quietly on your own, where you will not be disturbed with your eyes closed.
Start by focusing your attention on your breathing. Breathe slowly for one minute. Breathe in for three seconds and out for five seconds. The key is to make sure your out-breath is longer than your in-breath. Breathe in this way for one minute.
Next, for at least two minutes, preferably five, imagine the following about your life’s purpose:
- what does your life’s purpose look like?
- where will you be?
- who will you be with?
- what objects and people can you see?
- what sounds and voices can you hear?
- can you smell any aromas?
- what feelings are you having?
- where in your body are your feelings?
As you imagine your life’s purpose, deeply imagine what it would be like if you were there now.
Allow yourself space and time for the answers to the questions above to come to you. Don’t rush it. Allow your unconscious mind to provide you with the answers to these questions.
I hope you found this powerful exercise helpful for discovering your life’s purpose.
How Hypnosis Can Help You Discover Your Life’s Purpose
Finding one’s purpose in life is a quest that has perplexed humanity for centuries. We often spend a significant amount of time pondering what we’re meant to do with our lives, seeking meaningful careers, and aspiring to make an impact.
For some, this can be a lifelong pursuit filled with moments of doubt, anxiety, and existential questioning. One less conventional but increasingly recognised approach to addressing these concerns is through the practice of hypnosis.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis uses the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. The process involves putting you into a state of deep relaxation. During this state, the subconscious mind becomes more receptive, allowing you to embark on a journey of personal transformation.
The Barrier of the Conscious Mind
One of the main obstacles we encounter when trying to find our purpose is our conscious mind. While the conscious mind is excellent at logical thinking, problem-solving, and daily decision-making, it can also be quite limiting when it comes to self-discovery. Its tendency to analyse, criticise, and generate fear can impede our ability to connect with our inner selves.
How Hypnosis Bridges the Gap
In hypnosis, the primary aim is to bypass the analytical and often critical conscious mind to gain direct access to the subconscious. Here, our deeply rooted beliefs, experiences, and intuitions lie. The state of relaxation achieved during a hypnotherapy session allows you to delve into your inner world, making it easier to uncover insights about your true purpose.
Exploration of Passions and Interests
Through guided imagery and positive suggestions, hypnosis can help you explore your passions and interests in a safe, non-judgmental environment. You may uncover forgotten hobbies or suppressed desires that point you in the direction of a more fulfilling life.
Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
Many of us have limiting beliefs that prevent us from pursuing our true purpose. These can be as overt as “I’m not good enough” or as subtle as a feeling of unworthiness. Through hypnosis, these barriers can be identified and addressed, paving the way for a more authentic life experience.
Connecting with Inner Wisdom
The subconscious mind holds an abundance of wisdom. Hypnosis allows you to tap into this reservoir to gain insights, revelations and even answers to questions you have about your purpose.
While hypnosis might not offer a quick fix for finding your life’s purpose, it provides a powerful avenue for self-exploration and growth. By connecting with your subconscious mind, you can unveil hidden passions, overcome limiting beliefs, and align yourself more closely with your true calling.
